Brno – Bohunice Prison

Brno's second pigeon loft

Brno's second managed urban pigeon loft was created in unused attic space at the prison in Bohunice. The site was selected partly because pigeons had already been naturally present in the building and its immediate surroundings.

The loft entered operation in mid-January 2026 and also has a strong social dimension. Selected inmates take care of day-to-day operation, feed and water supplies and regular cleaning as part of their work activities.

The project combines humane management of the urban pigeon population with practical animal care and meaningful work.
