Bílovec City Pigeon Loft

Where it all began

The first City Pigeon Lofts project opened in May 2023 in the attic of the Mikuláš Koperník Grammar School in Bílovec. It was also the first managed urban pigeon loft in the Moravian-Silesian Region. The space can accommodate up to 100 pigeons and is designed to concentrate the local population in a safe, controlled environment.

A camera system allows the interior to be monitored continuously. The pigeons have access to feed, water and grit, while trained caretakers provide regular cleaning and care. Eggs are replaced with dummy eggs as part of humane population management.

The project demonstrates how an attic loft can provide practical maintenance access while reducing nesting on façades, window ledges and gutters in the surrounding area.
