Mladá Boleslav City Pigeon Loft

A rooftop pigeon loft

In October 2025, a rooftop pigeon loft was installed on a P+R parking structure in Mladá Boleslav, becoming the first project of its kind in the Czech Republic. As with attic lofts, patience is important because pigeons need time to accept a new place as their permanent home.

Before construction, local flocks were monitored. With help from active residents, an analysis and interactive map were created to identify suitable locations for managed pigeon lofts.

A local caretaker oversees day-to-day operation, and the project is the result of several years of work to introduce a humane, long-term approach to urban pigeons in Mladá Boleslav.
